Severn Bridge Half Marathon, 30 August 2015

Whilst seeing what views could be had from the old Severn Bridge, a passer-by asked if I was scouting for the Severn Bridge Half Marathon. Back at home I looked up details and thought it might be interesting. I wanted an unusual shot: one with the two piers, a large group of runners disappearing into the distance and views of South Wales. This required a very tall tripod. I put it to the test. Conditions were favourable - not much wind and the rain held off - so I got the shot I wanted. In fact, I controlled the main camera on top of the very tall tripod with my big toe, leaving me free to take more conventional shots with another camera. A few examples are included below.

Exmoor, May 2015

Its spring so I headed back to Exmoor for a week. I stayed in a new cottage to me, one in the Barle Valley with extensive ancient oak woodland on the doorstep. This proved very fruitful for deer photography, managing to capture my first shots of red deer in woodland. All the pictures below were taken close to the cottage.
